Changes in the seasons make me nostalgic. As the weather cools and the kids go back to school I remember all the fun I had being a PTA mom. Whomever said “the days are long and the years are short” understood nostalgia.
Maggie, that's a really good connection. The beginning of each season tends to spark a lot of memories which can then tend to make you feel a bit more nostalgic. I need to try and remember that not everything I think and feel these days is due to aging! Still marveling that your big son was a once little boy in school :)
Yes, I do love all my Converse tennies far too much! I realized long ago that if you’re having a rough day you tend to slump down and look at the floor. Then you see your feet in those goofy shoes and you just have to look up and smile. Cheaper than booze (she tells herself as she buys another pair!)
Your memory is scary good!! I'd love to do that Greer hike with you guys one day and if I get the opportunity I'll switch to my "hiking" boots! Have a good week my friend!
John, you sure have a gift for bringing up memories! Back in ‘59 I spent the summer of my Sophomore year in high school working on my Grandad’s farm. I earned $10 a week and Saturday afternoon my uncle and I would go to town. We’d get a chili cheese hot dog and a cherry lime. The rest of my money went for .22 shells and a payment on my boots. Finally got them. Turquoise and black with an eagle on the uppers. Kept them 40 years! Wore them to see Willie once. He played a solid hour after quitting time! Good times! Thanks!
Don, now those are some awesome memories! It's easier now to see how that work ethic, which got instilled in us young, sure made a difference. Love the boots story and I had a similar experience with Willie. I still remember looking at the people around me. It must have been about 12:30 AM at that point and many of them looked ready to call it a night but Willie was still going strong :)
"Dilly Bar" - I just read Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen, recommended by a couple who live in Dallas. The Dilly Bar is featured throughout the book as the main character contemplates her life in a small town in the south, daughter of a preacher. Love the SOL boots - I still have my first pair of boots, though not western wear. I've bought others, but that first pair has been resoled and touched up twice because so far none of the others compare. But it's a practical choice, not a sentimental one.
Good boots! I like Ruth’s shoes too. The design looks very similar to an artist named Britto. And Trigger…best guitar ever! Y’all are always welcome to visit!

That is a great insight! But just to be clear, your shoes are most definitely not goofy, they're classically cool!
Let’s hope your boots don’t fall victim to the Swedish Art of Death Cleaning!🍦

Marilyn, I loved reading through some of the connections you made. I bet you were a mighty fine Texan when living here!

Thanks for introducing us to Britto, looking forward to seeing you guys later this fall!
